My Story
Height: 6"3 | Location: Springfield, MO | Favorite Color: Sky Blue
On a cross-country trip from Upstate, New York to Branson, Missouri I saw my first magic show. I was captivated. After the show show the magician spent two hours showing me every trick in that magic shop that I wanted to see. I was hooked. For years, I devoted every waking moment to learning sleight-of-hand, the psychology of magic, and putting myself in situations that took me out of my comfort zone.
My family and I eventually moved to Branson and that magician became my mentor. By 14, I was performing on Branson stages for 1000s of people at a time. My dad would always say, shovel elephant dung in the circus if you want but you have to get your degree first. I went to an engineering college and actually did quite well but it wasn't my passion so I quit to take my shot at the entertainment business. I had a number of wins but it was a struggle.
Things didn't begin to really click until 2018 when my family and I traveled back to upstate, NY to visit my grandmother for the last time I got to see her. I was wrestling with the idea of going back to college. She was wrestling with dementia. Without realizing it she changed my life that week. One of the phrases she repeated maybe 100 times was, "we work we work we work and where does it get us." I didn't fully understand what she meant because we all have to work. But, one of my first shows was for my grandmother and one of the last memories I have with her was performing for her and her memory care unit. On the way home I realized what she meant. It's not that working isn't important, working is very important, but why we work is so much more than just making money.
Since then my magic has been featured on CW's Penn & Teller: Fool Us, I've headlined Celebrities of Magic, and guest headlined for Masters of Illusion Live! with one of my heroes. I've performed for hundreds of thousands of people, a few million have watched the Penn & Teller act, and I'm honestly just grateful to be able to do what I love for a living. No matter what town I'm in or how 'sexy' the show I'm performing is, I always make time to bring my show to senior living communities to honor my grandma for encouraging me to continue pursuing my dream. Thank you for being a part of my journey and I hope I get to meet you on the road!
